30 days of Night is a horror comic book which was written by Steve Niles in 2002. The 30 Days of Night is a mini series of three issues. The series portrays the story of Barrow, Alaska. The geographical nature of this far northern part of the world is that a time comes in a year when there is complete darkness for 30 days with no rising of the sun at all.

The vampires, who gain strength in the darkness and sunlight is lethal for them, take advantage of this longer period of darkness and feast upon the people of the city.

The mini series brought great success and fame for Steve Niles who had been struggling for many years in his previous works. The success was shared by the co-writer Ben Temple smith. The miniseries was then adapted in to film and many TV sequels. In 2007 the movie “30 Days of Night” was made.

The plot of series revolves around the evil operations of vampires who gather at Barrow, Alaska at a point of time of the year when there will be no sun-rising for next 30 days. This period of the year brings festivities for vampires in a sense that they will be able to feed themselves from human blood without any hindrance of sunlight which forces them to sleep as it is deadly for them.

When an elder vampire, Vicente, comes to know the plan, he enters Barrow to stop the other vampires to execute their plan with a view to preserve the secret of vampires. Sheriff Eben Olemaun saves the only-left people of Barrow by injecting vampire’s blood in to his veins which gives him enormous strength. He uses that strength to fight the elder vampire Vicente and saves the life of her wife Stella. But Eben dies as soon as sunrises after 30 days.
