According to the reports, Abbott Laboratories has issued the Similac recall due to possibilities of beetle’s contamination. Abbott Laboratories has announced that they have issued recall for five million cans.
Similac is a infant formula milk powder brand name and a product of Abbott Laboratories and the company has issued a voluntary recall.
Melissa Brotz, the spokes woman of Abbot Laboratories has stated that the quality insurance department has observed the presence of beetles in the Similac, milk powder during the inspection of the production facilities in Sturgis, Michigan and the company decided to issue recall on immediate bases.
Brotz further stated that the company has immediately stopped production in the area where the bugs were present and the company itself contacted the Food and Drug Administration to begin the recall of Similac with the packing of 8 ounce, 12.4 ounce and 12.9 ounce cans. The recalled powder milk was sold in the United States, Guam, Puerto Rico and some Caribbean countries.
The company has also made clear that the liquid milk formula is not the part of the recall.
