Abbott Laboratories has issued the recall voluntarily and they have reported that beetles were found in the production areas as well as in the Similac powdered milk cans. The company has issued the recall of the 8 ounce, 12.4 ounce and 12.9 ounce packing.
The company has further stated that they have contact itself with the Food and Drug authority and initiated the recall of five million cans.
The Food and Drug authority has reported that they haven’t received any reports from the market but the condition is supposed to be of high risk. They further told that the beetles’ infected powdered milk can cause discomfort and irritation to the gastrointestinal that can cause lose appetite to the infants if they ingest.
